Government Printery

Genesis

The St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla Government Printery, now the St. Kitts and Nevis Government Printery was established in 1966, with a seven member staff. The staff consisted of the Government Printer; who is the head of the establishment, a Cameraman, a Senior and Junior Varitypist, Binder, Assistant Binder and a Press Operator.

Some of the earlier members of staff included Egbert Lewis, Helen Woods, Pamela Tweed, Viola Galloway and His Excellency Sam Terrence Condor; who was a Press Operator at that time and is presently the Federation’s Ambassador to the United Nations and a former Deputy Prime Minister, proving that greatness starts at the Government Printery.

Purpose

The main purpose of the Government Printery in its initial years was to publish the Official Gazette which consists of the Laws of the Federation.

As the years progressed, so has the establishment. The Government Printery now not only produces the Official Gazette that is published on every Thursday and an Extra-Ordinary Gazette that is published upon request, but a wide variety of printed products that facilitate the efficient functionality of the Government. These products include official government forms, medical forms, school forms, various office stationery, various receipt books, ticket books, file jackets, registers, books, booklets, brochures, flyers, pamphlets, business cards, financial estimates, reports and ballots.
